Essia pulled herself up to look at the contents that fell out of the satchel.  Among several pieces of crumbled up paper was a leather bound diary and two glass jars with a string and a piece of paper attached to them.  Confusion reflected on her face as she reached out for one bottles and looked over the symbols on the page.

To many, they looked like scribbles but to her, they meant much more.  "Chard... I can read this.  It says 'For the pain, rub around the wounds.'"

Her eyes shifted up to Chard's face.  "What language is this? And how am I able to read this?"

As one of the crumpled pieces of papers moved against a slight breeze, her eyes shifted to it.  Reaching out, she picked it up and flattened it out.  Upon the paper was a drawing of what looked like a woman diagram.  But unlike most women in the world Essia knew, this woman had wings.

"Is this an Atlantian?"  Essia asked as her eyes shifted back up to Chard.

Chard flushed at Essia kiss, but he forced himself to shove it to the back of his mind, at least for the time being. Instead, he reached for the leather satchel, kneeling beside Essia to carefully dump its contents out in front of her.

"Will these help with your pain?"

Essia's heart began to race as Chard lifted her into his arms. Her own looped around his neck as he used the water to lift them to the deck. Though her shoulders pained her, she found comfort in his arms and discovered that she rather enjoyed them wrapped around her.

All to soon, Chard lowered her feet to the ground but still held onto her. Her breath caught as she clung to him, her legs almost too weak to work. Overwhelmed by this unknown need, Essia pressed her face into the curve of his neck. She soon identified the need as lust the moment her lips kissed the side of his neck. The taste of his skin was sweet and she knew she would be in trouble if she continued down this path.

Pulling away, she looked up into his eyes and felt the blush rise in her cheeks. But she ignore it and cleared her throat.

"I think my mom might have something - AH!" She cried as another stabbing pain shot through her shoulders.

Surprised by it, Essia jerked back and fell against the desk, falling to the floor with a crash. The movement caused a hidden door on the desk to pop out and the items inside fell to the floor. Struggling to move, Essia turned herself to see what had fallen only to freeze in place.

In front of her lay a leather satchel and stitched with gold thread on the flap was her name, Feressia.

(Inside are her mother's diary/story and the root and paste to help with Essia's pain)

Chard watched as light began to shimmer along the scars on Essia's back, his eyes glued so firmly to the odd sight that Essia's sudden lung caught him off guard. He scrambled to catch her in his arms.

"Oh course, anything that might help you..."

Quick but gentle, he lift Essia to his chest, supporting her the best he could without touching the scars on her back. He Jumped, manipulating the water under his feet to help propel them into the air, and covered the distance between the ladder and the deck. He landed as softly as he could manage and carried Essia to her quarters. Stopping just inside, he lowered Essia to the ground, though he refused to let go of her just then.

"What is it that you're looking for?"

((Yep, you got it right.  I have a thought that Essia's going to discover who she is very soon.  Do you want Chard to discover her mother's diary/potion??))

Another sharp pain shot through her shoulder blades, leaving them stinging in the aftermath.  That was all she could feel and sense.  Her ears began to ring as she cried out again and in the distance, she heard a voice.  A voice that seemed all too familiar.  Slowly Essia began to return to herself and found Chard kneeling in front of her.

Almost blindly, she reached out to him, grasping his shoulder in a strong grip as another stabbing pain ripped through her shoulders.  It was then that she saw it, a shimmer in the water.  Through her tears, she focused on the shining light in the water.  Only, it wasn’t in the water, but reflecting off of it.  Turning, she gasped in horror as she realized the shining light was coming from the two scars on her shoulder blades.  Shifting her eyes to Chard’s face, hoping she wasn’t going crazy in what she saw.

Licking her lips, she tasted the blood on them and winced at the cut upon her lip.  Had she really been in that much pain that she had caused herself harm?  She could now feel that very same blood dripping down her chin and her eyes moved back to Chard.  Realization hit and she sprung up so fast that her legs didn’t have time to support her.  Instead she fell into Chard, grasping onto him so she didn’t drown herself in the knee-high shore.

“Chard, please.”  She begged, beginning to feel that familiar sting on her shoulders again as she looked up at him.  “Please, get me to my quarters.  I might have something there to help.”
